Why Spider-Man wouldn’t survive in Dhaka: The web slinger's journey into the city of unknown.
Let’s do this one more time shall we? A typical New York skyline isn’t complete without those pesky skyscrapers, roads with those yellow movie taxis, and finally, a flying Dutchman cruising and swinging along aka your friendly neighborhood Spider-Man.
What if, the neighborhood was somewhere in Dhaka? The mighty capital of Bangladesh. Let’s see how things would’ve turned out.
Here are some problems that Spider-Man could face in his mission in Dhaka,
Not much swinging
Is it just me or is the swinging of Spider-Man not like a
spider? It's much more of a monkey-like swinging and regardless of that, you
need some support to swing around. Dhaka being the megacity it is lacks tall
buildings which means our Spidey can only travel around on our local buses. But his crawling abilities might help him to hang onto a bus.
The Police.
One thing we all can agree on is the fact that our police
are quite consistent during fining especially when they need to make up laws to
bind you. In this situation, our little superhero will be fined for swinging
illegally and sticking to walls.
The HEAT.
Dhaka is not for beginners especially when the summer
arrives. The likelihood of Spider-Man being a summer lover is rare considering
summer lovers are psychopaths. In that unlikely case, our Spidey will die
within a few days if he swings around wearing that watertight rubber suit. Even
if he ditches the suit, it won't take him long to turn into Miles Morales from Peter
Parker.
The Curfew.
Dhaka can be many things, but a nocturnal city is not on the
list. This means that every gate of every building closes after 11.
Undoubtedly, no landowner would rent a place to some bachelor who regularly
returns after midnight. This means the webslinger will probably end up sleeping
on the footpath or the streets.
Hanging Wires.
Dhaka will serve as an obstacle course for Spider-Man. The
biggest obstacle he will face is the overhead electricity wires. The broadband
cables will be the nemesis of Spider-Man and He probably will have run-ins with
The Internet providers and the city corporation. Yikes!
Handling Jobs.
New York Peter already had a hard time handling jobs,
especially getting a full-time job proved hard for him. Part-time jobs were just
enough to keep a roof over his head. But over here in Dhaka, part-time jobs are
a joke, and full-time jobs aren’t enough to live on. Crime-fighting does not
pay the bills either. The already poor Peter will experience full poverty in
Dhaka which is just enough for him to abort his mission.
All this boils down to the simple fact that the ultimate superpower is wealth. Dhaka as a city is quite hostile towards the unfortunate and this also stands as evidence of how the helpful are being shut down due to this hostility. Even superheroes are helpless here as they have no way to adapt to this scary place. In conclusion, we need Batman.
